2024 Foreign Military Sales Symposium and Industry Day
Professionalization of the Workforce and the Promise of Security Cooperation
May 23-24, 2024

The first Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Symposium will be hosted May 23-24, 2024, by the Defense Security Cooperation University’s School of Security Cooperation Studies. The second day of the event, Industry Day, will be co-hosted by the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)). The FMS Symposium will be held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center at National Harbor, Maryland. 

The FMS Symposium will raise awareness and understanding across the Security Cooperation Enterprise, including amongst representatives of the Defense Industrial Base, of the Department of Defense’s role in implementing the FMS process. The event will examine ways to build a stronger foundation for innovation in executing the FMS mission.

About

The Foreign Military Sales Symposium will take place in the River View Ballroom at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, 201 Waterfront Street National Harbor, Maryland in Oxon Hill MD 20745. Digital directories located throughout the venue and the Gaylord Resort app are resources to help navigate the property once on site.

Dress code is business for civilian attendees and military personnel should wear Class B uniforms.   

The FMS Symposium Program is available but subject to updates. The one-and-a-half-day Symposium will feature a series of plenary sessions and will gather leaders and experts engaged in all aspects of the FMS process. Each panel, organized around facets of the FMS system, will explore the challenges and opportunities that FMS presents in advancing the National Defense Strategy. The first day of the Symposium will observe the Chatham House Rule. The second day, hosted by OUSD (A&S), will include a virtual component to enable maximum participation from the across the Security Cooperation Enterprise. 

Industry Day Virtual Session

Please join DSCU and OUS (A&S) for the second day of the FMS Symposium, Industry Day, via this Microsoft Teams link. Industry day discussions and panels will begin at 8:30 AM and conclude around 12:30 PM on May 24, 2024. 

Note: Meeting rules are currently set so that attendee mics and cameras are disabled unless the moderator specifically unmutes them; the meeting chat is disabled. Virtual questions will be addressed via hand-raise and unmute.

Lodging, Travel, and Meals

Rooms have been blocked at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, 1201 Waterfront Street, National Harbor, Maryland. For Attendees lodging at the Gaylord, the prevailing daily resort fee, $27.00 plus applicable tax, will be waived.  If unable to secure a room at the Gaylord, there are other lodging options at the National Harbor within walking distance of the meeting venue: AC Hotel Marriott, Residence Inn Marriott, Westin, Hampton Inn, MGM National Harbor, and Hyatt Place.

Parking is available at the Gaylord:
    $36       Self-parking daily rate 
    $59        Valet daily rate 
    $60        Bus, motor coach & oversized vehicle daily rate 

DSCU will host continental breakfast on both days and lunch on May 23, 2024. DSCU will also host a social, with light hors d’oeuvres and cash bar, on the first evening.  All other meals and travel-related expenditures should be coordinated with your respective organization, per their rules and regulations.
