Jordan Armed Forces Capability Development Division Achieves Full Operational Capability

In March 2022, the Institute for Security Governance (ISG) supported the final table-top exercise leading to the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) Capability Development Division (CDD) achieving full operational capability. The standup of the CDD marks a significant advancement in the modernization of the JAF through the implementation of a Capability Based Planning (CBP) framework tailored to support its military decision-making process. The CDD is now able to serve as the JAF lead for identifying current and future operational gaps impacting the ability to execute its mission; validating appropriate solution approaches; and prioritizing needs, supporting development and procurement; and tracking implementation, and supporting efforts to assess the effectiveness of capability gap mitigation.

ISG Helps Oman’s Ability to Plan for Natural Disaster/Crisis Response

The Institute of Security Governance (ISG) inaugurated an Institutional Capacity Building (ICB) program in Oman in 2020 meant to strengthen the Partner’s ability to maintain border security and respond to local and regional threats to security. Recently, ISG conducted a multi-week workshop in Muscat for 75 people across the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and other Omani governmental ministries intended to develop the SAF’s operational planning capability. The workshop included a course on the joint planning process, combined with daily practical application using a disaster response planning scenario. Workshops like these provide the opportunity for Partner Nations to develop the capabilities to use a formalized planning process to address a myriad of threats.

Brigadier General Geraldine Janet George – the current Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) – is a female career soldier with extensive military leadership skills. To further hone those skills, she recently completed two Resident Courses at ISG headquarters in Monterey, CA: Executive Program in Defense Decision-making (January 2022) and Women In Strategic Defense & Security Decision-Making (February 2022).
