Dean School of Security Cooperation Studies

Dr. Jones joined the Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU) in December 2016 as an instructor in the School of Security Cooperation Studies. He teaches students from across the Security Cooperation enterprise in courses like SCO-220, Fundamentals, and Application of Security Cooperation Organization Operations; IPTN-201, International Purchaser Security Cooperation Logistics and Finance; and SC-301, Advanced Security Cooperation Management Seminar. 

Dr. Jones retired as a colonel from the Air Force, serving in several Security Cooperation roles as a logistician and Latin America FAO. Most of his overseas duties were in the SOUTHCOM AOR, where he planned combined, interagency counterdrug operations while assigned to USMILGP-Bolivia, served as the deputy commander of Joint Task Force – Bravo in Honduras, and represented the USAF as the Air Attaché in Peru. He also served as a Security Cooperation planner on the USNORTHCOM staff and commanded the Defense Language Institute English Language Center. He has deep experience in military institutions of higher learning, having served as an award-winning instructor in the Air Force Academy’s History Department and later as a professor in the USAF’s School of Advanced Air and Space Studies. He earned his PhD in Business History from Johns Hopkins University, published articles, and presented at conferences nationwide.
