UN Peacekeeping Operations Contingent Commanders Course

Congratulations to the latest cohort of participants of the Institute for Security Governance's (ISG) United Nations Peacekeeping Operations Contingent Commanders (PKOCC) course. This course prepares participants to take on roles and responsibilities of contingent, battalion, and sector commanders in complex peacekeeping operations (PKO) for the United Nations (UN) and other multinational organizations.
Objectives Include:
♦ Understand the operational environments of today’s co/isgnflicts and commanders’ roles in integrated missions
♦ Understand the responsibilities and roles of effective commander leadership of (PKO) personnel
♦ Have an awareness and understanding of the various components of PKO
♦ Understand the underpinning legal framework of UN PKO
♦ Apply basic principles of negotiation and mediation
♦ Understand the UN Women, Peace, and Security agenda; Protection of Civilians; and Counter Trafficking in Persons topics
