Students from 13 Countries Attend SSCS International Partner Course

The Defense Security Cooperation University’s (DSCU’s) School of Security Cooperation Studies (SSCS) conducted a resident International Partner Security Cooperation course at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio, April 15 – May 3, 2024. The course facilitates an active learning environment for international partners and addresses key U.S. Foreign Military Sales (FMS) concepts in the context of Security Cooperation.
The SSCS faculty team trained 30 military and civilian personnel from 13 different countries. Students representing Algeria, Australia, Belgium, Georgia, Hungary, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Oman, Philippines, Republic of North Macedonia, Sweden, and Tunisia participated in the three-week course that addresses the full spectrum of Security Cooperation. Lessons covered the topics of legislation & policy, technology transfer/end-use monitoring, the FMS process, acquisition, logistics, financial, and training management.
The resident International Partner Security Cooperation course includes a robust field studies program that provides students insight into American culture as well as the inner workings of the U.S. Government at federal, state, and local levels. This cohort of students had the opportunity to tour the Ohio Statehouse and learn about the Ohio State Legislature.

Founded in 1976, as the Defense Institute of Security Assistance Management (DISAM), DSCU’s SSCS is the focal point of FMS education for all Department of Defense personnel and international partner personnel engaged in managing Security Cooperation programs.
