Ms. Angela Eccles serves as the Deputy Director of the Institute for Security Governance (ISG). She joined the Institute in February 2008 as part of the contract support team, working in various capacities, including Finance Manager for both direct and reimbursable finance teams. In September 2022, Ms. Eccles transitioned to a government role, leading the Institute Operations’ Budget and Finance Team. As the Budget Analyst Lead, Ms. Eccles provided direct oversight of programming, budgeting, execution, and review of the Institute’s various funding sources to include one-year and multi-year accounts under multiple appropriation authorities. In October 2024, she took on her senior leadership role as Deputy Director.
Before joining ISG, Ms. Eccles worked at a media research firm, where she managed media valuation projects and coordinated high-level media and radio events. She also spent several years providing executive support at Santa Cruz's largest not-for-profit human services provider, where she honed her skills in executive management, event planning, and logistics, while actively participating in the agency's strategic planning cycles.
Over the past decade in her various contracted roles at ISG, Ms. Eccles has developed skills in budgeting, financial management, logistics, and programming, adapting to the evolving needs of the Institute. She began with contract administration and financial analysis for the Defense Institution Reform Initiative and the Wales Initiative Fund, eventually advancing to a Senior Financial Analyst position with the Defense Governance and Management Team. Recent efforts included forecasting, planning, and execution of congressionally notified and appropriated International Security Cooperation Program funds in support of the Institute’s Institutional Capacity Building efforts.
Ms. Eccles holds a Master of Public Affairs from the Truman School of Government and Public Affairs at the University of Missouri, concentrating on Public Management, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley in Ethnic Studies. Ms. Eccles lives in Carmel Valley, California with her husband.
