Posted on: 7/29/2021

July 2021 - DIILS participated in a Black Sea Maritime Collaboration tabletop exercise jointly sponsored by the Department of State Export Control and Related Border Security Program and U.S. Naval Forces Europe in Batumi, Georgia. Numerous Georgian maritime agencies, all Black Sea partner nations, the Royal Danish Navy, and NATO Allied Maritime Command attended the tabletop exercise. Participants explored scenarios which demonstrated the importance of a whole-of-government approach to tackle complex maritime challenges, and of maximizing the sharing of Maritime Domain Awareness information among international partners. Briefs highlighted the successful Georgian model holistically incorporating the roles of numerous maritime stakeholders, as well as a Baltic Sea model of Maritime Domain Awareness information sharing for consideration by our Black Sea Partners.
