A DIILS team traveled to Bogota, Colombia in late January to conduct a military justice engagement with Colombia’s Military Justice Special Administrative Unit (JPM-SAU). The visit reflected a continuing DIILS partnership to help build legal capacity within the Colombian military as Colombia prepares to transition to a new military justice system. DIILS participated in JPM-SAU’s mock trial program, developed at the behest of the President of Colombia, and offered feedback on JPM-SAU’s plan to manage cases from investigation through trial. DIILS looks forward to future engagements with the JPM-SAU.
