Posted on: 4/7/2023

The Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU) is excited to announce the launch of a new distance learning course titled, “SCO-120: Basic Security Cooperation Officer/Organization (SCO) Operations.” This approximately 50-hour, self-paced, virtual course provides Security Cooperation professionals important foundational knowledge for executing Security Cooperation activities with our allies and partners in support of U.S. defense and security policy.

The content of SCO-120 focuses on five primary knowledge areas: SCO Operations, Regional/Cross-Cultural Orientation, Case Life Cycle Management, International Training Management, and Security Cooperation Planning, Oversight, and Execution. The course is a combination of computer-based training, videos, readings, and independent exploration of websites, in addition to quizzes on this content.

The growing importance of Security Cooperation as a tool of national security demonstrates the criticality of SCO personnel who represent the Department of Defense to our allies and partners for Security Cooperation programs. DSCU’s SCO Management Team in conjunction with School of Security Cooperation Studies explore solutions to ensure SCO personnel are appropriately staffed with well-qualified, trained, and supported Security Cooperation professionals.

Upon receipt of SCO assignment notification, please contact the SCO Management Team, at: dsca.ncr.dscu.list.sco-management@mail.mil. Once approved for the course, registration is completed on myDSCU using a system called Cornerstone on Demand (CSOD) hosted by the Defense Acquisition University (DAU).
